3 local companies nab Microsoft ‘Global Partner’ awards

Three Puerto Rico companies dedicated to developing software and technology based on the Microsoft platform are being recognized for their work in the Latin American region during the upcoming Microsoft Worldwide Partner Conference.

Rock Solid Technologies, Internet Vision Development (INVID) and Global Learning & Consulting (GLC) will receive their “Partner of the Year” awards for “challenging the limits of innovation” during the July 9 award ceremony, Microsoft announced Tuesday.

Of the three companies, Rock Solid will be the most awarded this year, as it is walking away with four distinctions: Microsoft Cloud Partner of the Year; Microsoft Dynamics ERP Partner of the Year; Public Sector Government Partner of the Year; and Microsoft Dynamics Public Sector Partner of the Year, which it has earned for three years running.

“To have achieved this distinction for the third consecutive year positions Puerto Rico’s technology industry at high caliber global scale,” said Angel L. Pérez, vice president of Rock Solid Technologies. “Undoubtedly, this recognition demonstrates the production quality of our engineers and technology consultants.”

“The collaboration with Microsoft allows us, through one of its fundamental principles, to encourage the local economy and contribute to our island’s economic development, as well as opens new global business opportunities,” he added.

The annual Worldwide Partner Conference awards honor Microsoft partners for delivering innovative solutions during the past year that directly address customer challenges. Nearly 3,000 entries were collected from more than 100 countries; the award finalists and winners were selected from a group of nominations based on their commitment to customers, their solution’s market impact and exemplary use of Microsoft technologies, the company said.

“For Microsoft it is an honor and pleasure to honor Rock Solid, INVID and GLC that are challenging the boundaries of innovation by developing and delivering solutions based on our technology,” said Ana Gamborena, director of Microsoft’s enterprise and business partners division. “Their work results in increased productivity and efficiency of its customers within and outside the island. We’re very proud of their success stories that this year placed them among the best in Latin America and the world.

INVID, won “Partner of the Year” in Latin America in the “Mobility Business-to-Consumer Application” segment for creating “Social Alert,” a mobile solution to enable users to alert via Facebook or Twitter about emergency situations.

Meanwhile, GLC garnered the “Partner of the Year” award in Latin America in the “Opportunities for Youth Citizenship” segment for its work with the Education Department’s “Digital Literacy Virtual Program,” through which students acquire the necessary skills to become proficient in using computers and the Internet as an educational resource.
