American Academy appoints new headmistress

American AcademySeeking to “enhance and strengthen” its professional staff, Gurabo’s American Academy recently appointed Carmen Ana Pérez as the new headmistress of the institution, school CEO Juan C. Consuegra announced.

Pérez is returning to Puerto Rico after 15 years of teaching and heading schools in Spain, Consuegra said

Pérez began her career in education as a teacher and later principal of the American Military Academy in Guaynabo.  During her tenure at AMA she received the “Presidential Award for Excellence in Science and Mathematics Teaching” from President Bill Clinton, who personally bestowed the award upon her.

“We’re very proud to have been able to secure her return to her home in Puerto Rico after 15 years of developing a vast international experience with various posts in excellent educational organizations in Europe,” said Marilou Consuegra, president of American Academy.

“It’s time that we start bringing talents back to Puerto Rico’s educational system especially after they have enhanced their experience and careers in the European Education,” she said.
