AT&T expands 4G LTE to 6 western towns

AT&T offers several LTE-compatible devices, including new AT&T 4G LTE smartphones and tablets.

AT&T announced Wednesday its ongoing expansion of its 4G LTE network on the island, rolling it out to parts of Aguada, Aguadilla, Añasco, Mayaguez, Rincón, Moca and Hormigueros. The added areas comes a month after AT&T introduced 4G LTE in parts of the San Juan metropolitan area on Nov. 20.

AT&T 4G LTE is also available from Vega Baja in the northwest through Fajardo in the northeast and Caguas and Cidra in the south, as well as a coverage area that extends throughout Ponce, Santa Isabel and Juana Diaz in the south.

“We’ve seen positive response from customers on our 4G LTE launch, and as today’s expansion shows, we’re continuing our rollout of fast LTE speeds to more areas of Puerto Rico,” said José Juan Dávila, vice president of AT&T Mobility in Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

AT&T’s 4G LTE provides several benefits, namely, faster speeds, faster response time and more efficient use of spectrum, something the carrier describes as a “finite resource.”

Coupled with the service expansion, AT&T announced the availability of a list of 4G LTE-compatible devices: the LG Nitro HD; the HTC Vivid; the Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket; the HTC Jetstream tablet; the Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9; the AT&T USBConnect Momentum 4G; the AT&T Mobile Hotspot Elevate 4G; and the AT&T USBConnect Adrenaline

AT&T will continue to expand its 4G LTE footprint in Puerto Rico over the coming months, the company said.
