Less than a year after making its local debut, Burlington Coat Factory is opening its fifth store, Sept. 23, at the Santa Rosa Mall, next month. The new 70,000 square foot location will take up the space left vacant by Grande supermarket.

Once open, the store will join the Río Piedras, Caguas, Canóvanas and Ponce outlets. An online search shows Burlington Coat Factory is already scouting for a store manager for a future sixth location in Manatí.

Two days prior to the opening, the White Plains, NY retailer will host a “Charity Day” special event when it will welcome those who purchased a VIP pass from more than 15 participating nonprofits. The pass has a $5 value and aside from being the ticket into the new store, the customer will receive a 10 percent discount on purchases made during the event.

Some of the participating and benefiting nonprofits are: Iniciativa Comunitaria, Susan G. Komen, La Perla del Gran Precio, Cabecitas Rapadas and the Salvation Army.

Burlington Coat Factory opened its first local store in November 2010.
