Shoe Carnival gives $4K to UPR Cancer Center

Shoe Carnival conducted the fundraiser in October.

Shoe Carnival, in its commitment to the fight against breast cancer, presented the University of Puerto Rico’s Comprehensive Cancer Center with a check for more than $4,100. The Comprehensive Cancer Center specializes in the study of cancer both from the molecular and clinical perspective.

The contribution is the result of a fundraiser that called for selling pink bracelets, at $1 each, at all nine of its stores in Puerto Rico during the month of October to support breast cancer research.

The fundraising campaign, which took place this year for the first time in Puerto Rico, raised more than $157,000 in Shoe Carnival locations in the United States.

“For Shoe Carnival, families are the core of our business. These are the people we serve and the people who have helped us grow to become what we are today,” said Cliff Sifford, CEO of Shoe Carnival. “Breast cancer has touched the lives of many of those families. We are humbled and grateful for the generosity of our customers who supported this important cause.”
