Leading Edge Logistics buys Horizon International Shipping of Miami and San Juan

This represents LEL’s second acquisition by this year after picking up San Juan-based C&F Logistics in March.

Third-party logistics company Leading Edge Logistics recently announced the acquisition of Horizon International Shipping of Miami and San Juan, a non-vessel owning common carrier (NVOCC), joining Leading Edge Logistics’ Puerto Rico division LEL Caribe.

The financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

This represents LEL’s second acquisition by this year after picking up San Juan-based C&F Logistics in March, making it a leading NVOCC to the Puerto Rico market and expanding its service area to other parts of the Caribbean including the Cayman Islands and Panama.

“This acquisition is pivotal in reaching one of our main goals of expanding into the Caribbean marketplace,” said Thomas Torcomian, CEO of LEL. “By effectively serving the Caribbean market with world class logistics we are able to introduce our company to the Mainland US, Canada and Mexico shippers that sell in Puerto Rico. It’s a win, win for everyone.”

Torcomian went on to say that the acquisition provides an opportunity for synergy between the two companies, adding another warehouse in Miami for a total of two in that location and optimizing current locations in Elizabeth, NJ, Jacksonville, FL and San Juan.
