Meineke Car Care Centers debuts in Puerto Rico

Meineke Car Care Centers has opened its first local store in Arecibo.

Meineke Car Care Centers, an automobile repair retailer with more than 900 stores worldwide, has opened its first store in Puerto Rico, where plans call for opening three more over in five years, with an associated investment of some $800,000, News is my Business learned.

The first local store opened early last month in Arecibo by franchisee and entrepreneur Luis Iván Valentín-Ríos, who is already looking at opening new locations in Ponce, Mayagüez, Aguadilla and the eastern region. Each store will generate six full-time jobs, company officials said.

“When a client comes to Meineke, they’re guaranteed the highest quality service by certified professionals, the best prices and the backing of a brand that enjoys the trust of millions of families around the world,” said Valentín-Ríos. “In Meineke that we are a family, who takes care of your car, who cares about you.”

In the first few weeks since opening, the new automobile service center has been certified by the Automotive Resources International and Lease Plan International to provide maintenance services to fleets, reaching an agreement with Enterprise Car Rental’s fleet to provide such service.

Meineke Car Care Centers, opened its first center in 1997 in Houston, TX. In 1986, the chain relocated Charlotte, NC. At present, the company has locations in Canada, Mexico, South Korea, the Mid-East and China. The company has 100 licenses sold and in development. Meineke is owned by Driven Brands who also owns the Maaco, EconoLube, Aero Colours and Auto Qual brands.

The Arecibo Meineke opening required an initial investment of $180,000 supported by private investment, loans and incentives from the Community Socio-Economic Institute Inc., which provides funding to hire professional staff for new companies establishing themselves in Puerto Rico.

The repair center’s workforce includes automotive technicians, refrigeration technicians and customer service professionals. Meineke offers a wide range of services such as lubrication, oil and filter change, tire sales and repair, refrigeration, mufflers and catalytic, free brake evaluation, battery checks, among others.
