P.R.’s HealthSouth facilities among best in chain

HealthSouth offers rehabilitation care to patients in Puerto Rico.

Puerto Rico residents in need of physical therapy services can find quality care at HealthSouth Rehabilitation Hospitals in Manatí and San Juan, which recently were ranked first and second, respectively among the chain’s 97 facilities nationwide. The health care facilities received the distinctions for their performance this year, improving on last year’s first and 10th place rankings.

These awards were obtained after an evaluation throughout all Healthsouth hospitals nationwide.

HealthSouth serves patients through its network of inpatient rehabilitation hospitals, outpatient rehabilitation satellite clinics and home health agencies. HealthSouth’s hospitals provide a higher level of rehabilitative care to patients who are recovering from conditions such as stroke and other neurological disorders, orthopedic, cardiac and pulmonary conditions, brain and spinal cord injuries, and amputations. The hospital chain promotes cost-effective care to spare Puerto Rico patients from having to seek treatment outside the island.

“Our staff has demonstrated a genuine interest in our patients’ satisfaction, always focused on achieving their goals and reach their highest level of physical independence,” said Daniel Del Castillo, CEO of Healthsouth in San Juan.

Award winners are selected on a quarterly and annual basis according to each hospital’s performance. The metrics used are based on clinical outcomes and patient experience.

While HealthSouth Manatí is a 40-bed facility, the 32-bed San Juan facility is located in the Medical Center’s University Hospital.
