Off-price retailer T.J.Maxx is marking its first anniversary of operations in Puerto Rico with the opening of three new stores in Carolina, Ponce and Caguas, on Nov. 10.

With the opening of these three new stores, T.J.Maxx will now operate six stores total on the island.

The Carolina store, at 32,210 square feet, will be located at the Plaza Carolina Mall; the Ponce store, at 30,600 square feet, will be located at the Ponce Mall; and the Caguas store, at 32,000 square feet, will be located at Villa Blanca Shopping Center.

In addition to providing a new shopping option for local residents and area workers, the new stores will add approximately 240 full and part-time jobs (80 per store) to the island.

The Carolina store will be the island’s largest with two floors, located in the former Casa Febus locale, facing Highway 3, followed by the Plaza Villa Blanca Caguas store.

“Since the opening of our first two stores on the island, Puerto Rican shoppers have shown their enthusiasm for T.J.Maxx and the incredible values we offer every day,” said company president Michael MacMillan. “We are thrilled to expand our brand into these three new locations and look forward to delivering even more high-quality designer fashion at prices well below department stores.”

On inauguration day, each store will give away 2,500 reusable TJ Maxx branded bags to the first customers who visit the stores, which will feature a stylish, easy to shop layout with designer fashion, accessories, footwear and an extensive selection of beauty and spa products.

Last November, the retailer inaugurated its first two stores outside the mainland U.S. in Puerto Rico. The 19,499 square-foot Hatillo store is located at Plaza del Norte, while the 17,100 square-foot San Patricio store is located at San Patricio Plaza. The two stores created some 120 jobs.

The third T.J. Maxx store opened in August, taking up 30,000 square feet of retail space at Plaza Río Hondo, next to Best Buy, in Bayamón. That store brought some 60 full and part-time jobs to the area.

In celebration of the three new locations, T.J.Maxx will contribute to the surrounding community with donations to three local organizations: Fundación Educativa CAF and Hogar la Piedad. Checks for $5,000 each will be presented to representatives from these organizations at the opening ceremonies, company officials said.
