Wireless telecommunications provider T-Mobile announced Wednesday it has opened a pre-order period for customers interested in buying the new iPhone 5. Registration is now available through http://www.t-mobilepr.com/iphone5, so that customers can get their smartphone when it becomes available April 12, company officials said.

“At T-Mobile we’re proving that the customer is our priority and we’re offering simple alternatives to their benefit,” said Jorge Martel, general manager of T-Mobile Puerto Rico. “Only those people who register on the site can get the benefit of separating their iPhone 5 before anyone else and enjoy the phone first.”

“We like to offer alternatives that will provide our customers the best mobile communication experience and service,” he said.

The iPhone 5 is the latest version of Apple’s blockbuster smartphone. Once T-Mobile adds it to its portfolio, every wireless carrier in Puerto Rico will be offering the device.

T-Mobile will offer unlimited data plans starting at $69, and will reportedly sell the smartphone for $99.
