Yogen Früz steps up expansion, opening 10 stores by year’s end

Yogen Früz offers a variety of flavors that can be combined with fresh fruit, candy and other toppings.

Frozen yogurt retailer Yogen Früz is riding on the popularity of its products to continue its agressive expansion plans in Puerto Rico, where the franchise plans to open another 10 stores, doubling its presence by year’s end.

The chain, which made its local debut in 2008, already operates nine stores: San Patricio Town Center, Ocean Park, Caguas, Aguadilla, Hato Rey, San Francisco Shopping Center, Mahi Mahi Shopping Plaza Esmeralda in Guaynabo and Galería Los Paseos en Cupey, said Katya Molero, president of YFPR del Caribe Inc., which holds the local rights to the Canadian franchise.

Yogen Früz will soon be inaugurating new stores in Old San Juan, Mayagüez and Los Prados Carolina, entailing a combined investment of $485,000, company officials said.

Additional locations will be announced as contracts are finalized. By the end of the year, Yogen Früz should have 19 locations islandwide. At present, the chain generates about 100 jobs.
