Yoplait keeps ball rolling on breast cancer awareness initiatives

More than 500 breast cancer survivors joined Yoplait at the “Race for the Cure” event, when they signed and left messages of support to friends and family fighting the illness on a mural the yogurt company raised adjacent to a mobile mammogram unit.

Following its participation in last weekend’s Susan G. Komen “Race for the Cure” event to raise awareness on the fight against breast cancer, Yoplait will keep the momentum going by sponsoring several free mammogram activities later this month.

For that purpose, Yoplait will deploy the Senos Puerto Rico Advanced Breast Care & Cancer Detection Center mobile unit to conduct 40 breast check-ups to women who present the pink lids off four Yoplait yogurt cups.

To qualify, the women must be over 35 and have never had a mammogram done or 40 or older whose last mammogram was done 12 months ago.

The two events are slated for: Oct. 9 at Wal-Mart Caguas, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Oct. 25 at Econo Plaza del Carmen in Caguas, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Also, through Nov. 15, Yoplait is encouraging consumers to buy its yogurts, as the proceeds will be included in a donation to the Susan G. Komen Foundation of no less than $10,000. The money will be earmarked to benefit the Puerto Rican community and to find a cure, Yoplait said.
